Silvretta

Silvretta High Alpine Road connects the municipalities of Galtür (1,584 m) in Paznaun and Gaschurn-Partenen (1,051 m) in Montafon.

2004 marked the 50th anniversary of the Silvretta High Alpine Road, which has an average of 400,000 visitors per year, making it one of the most travelled panoramic roads in Austria. It was once an access road for the construction of the impressive retaining walls and systems for the Vorarlberger Illwerke power stations, and is now a tourist attraction.

It is rare to find a mountain road that snakes as elegantly across perilous terrain as the Silvretta High Alpine Road.

The same can also be said for the Panoramastrasse panoramic toll road.

At the Silvretta reservoir on the Bielerhöhe Pass you can take a boat trip lasting approx. 20 minutes, or go for a hike around the lake (sturdy footwear required, approx. 1 1/2 hours)

Apiary demonstration by “Zither Gottl”, prior reservation required; free entry
